“Queen of the Sun” is a film about the recent global honeybee crisis, an issue which our readers may be interested in. Below is a synopsis of the film.

Without bees, Albert Einstein said, “man would only have four years of life left.” From The Director on “The Real Dirt on Farmer John” comes a profound, alternative look at the tragic global bee crisis. Juxtaposing the catastrophic disappearance of bees with the mysterious world of the beehive, “Queen of the Sun” weaves an unusual and dramatic story of the heart-felt struggles of beekeepers, scientists, and philosophers from around the world. Featuring Michael Pollan, Gunther Hauk, and Vandana Shiva, “Queen of the Sun” reveals both the problems and the solutions in renewing a culture in balance with nature.
“Queen of the Sun” received the Audience Award at the Maui Film Festival and screened to a sold out showing at the Seattle International Film Festival. Like Taggart Siegel’s previous film, “The Real Dirt on Farmer John,” “Queen of the Sun” is a film that helps finds solutions to our agricultural system. The film highlights an organic and sustainable approach to beekeeping and farming and shows is that we have to look deeper, at the root of our problems to create real change.
