Maine Lobster Chef of the Year, Margaret Salt McLellan, has been named Executive Chef of Linda Bean’s product brand, Linda Bean’s Perfect Maine. Hired by Linda Bean, who is the granddaughter of L.L. Bean, McLellan’s appointment puts her in charge of the culinary aspects of the business: a vertically integrated shore to table group of companies specializing in Maine lobster.
Bean, operator of lobster buying stations on Vinalhaven, Port Clyde, and Tenants Harbor, says she and Margaret “will be working together to create new markets and generate excitement for both Maine lobster and wild Maine shrimp, which is winter fishing for many Maine lobstermen.”
It is exciting to hear the both women are committed to promoting the industry with creative marketing strategies, a new retail line, delicious new dishes, and new seasonal locations. McLellan will be opening 2 local restaurants for Linda this summer.
McLellan, with a certificate from esteemed Le Cordon Bleu, London, and extensive CIA training, is looking forward to representing the State of Maine in the Great American Seafood Cookoff to be held this July in New Orleans.
We look forward to seeing, hearing about, and tasting some of their collaborative efforts soon!
