A Good Food City

Kate Hopkins, blogmeister of the Accidental Hedonist blog, has welcomed in the 5th anniversary of her blog this year. Congratulations Kate, and don't stop now.

Kate posted an interesting article recently. The subject was, What Makes a Good Food City. Kate's post presents her opinion of possible circumstances why one city has better food than others, and are wonderful places for foodies to visit.

From our Maine perspective, we see many familiar items in her list that speak to both our coastal and inland destinations. We're listing a few which resonate with us. Visit Kate's blog to read the complete article here:

Be a port city.
Have at least one open air market open for at least a season.
Have at least one local supermarket option.
Have at least a one-to-one local restaurant to franchise restaurant ratio.
Have a restaurant culture.
Have a wholesale fish market.
Have weekly farmers'
markets.
Have an artisan food culture.
Have residents brag about the local food.

Sounds like Maine to us. How 'bout you?
