Yes, some of our favorite lobster shacks called it quits on Labor Day (Cod End, Miller’s, Waterman’s Beach Lobster, Morse’s), but there is still hope for those of us who like our lobster minus the summer crowds. The next wave of lobster shacks closes around Columbus Day. Enjoy a lobster roll at Red’s Eats in Wiscasset without the Route 1 bottleneck – it stays open till October 13th. So does Five Islands Lobster Co. in Georgetown, The Clam Shack in Kennebunkport, and The Dip Net in Port Clyde. Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier at Kittery Point exits the season a day earlier on October 12th. For procrastinators like ourselves, The Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth stays open a couple of weeks longer to close on October 26th. So while you’re out leaf-peeping, now you can tuck into a lobster roll too!
